August 12, 2004 — This week Congressman Peter Deutsch will launch a new television campaign across the state. The newest campaign spot tells the story of Sabrina Cohen, a young woman that was left quadriplegic after a terrible automobile accident. She asks viewers to put themselves in her wheelchair, knowing that stem cell research offered hope, but for now, hope has been denied. Congressman Peter Deutsch introduced legislation ending a 3-year-old ban by President Bush on federal funding for stem cell research. If passed into law, Deutsch’s legislation would help find cures for devastating diseases such as Alzheimer’s, diabetes and paralysis.
